I am very grateful to be a recipient of the FIFE Fund. Joining overseas exchange is a genuine opportunity for me to explore and grow up. As technology becomes more advanced, mobility of people gets easier. Human beings are no longer citizens of their own countries only. A modern community or society is made up of people from different parts of the world. Staying in a new place stimulates me to think about how to be a global citizen.

When I was in Norway, I took a course on “Norwegian life and society”. I learnt the cultures and state system of Norway. Unlike Hong Kong where economic development and financial gains are emphasized more than the equity and welfare of the minority, the Norwegian welfare system is very well-established and cares for every member of society, including children, the elderly and parents. The study in Norway probes me to think about how Hong Kong can incorporate more humanitarian principles into its welfare system. The exchange programme shaped me into a better person: more sensitive, more mature and more considerate. Now, I believe everything is possible. It just depends whether I am determined to achieve the goal.
